…what we call death is, above all,

the awareness we have of it.

George Bataille

The idea is to “gather the steps” that have been decisive in the formation of my subjectivity. Whatever I feel to be a substantial part of my life and its moments of emotional, sentimental, mental and bodily experimentation, which speak of archetypes within female experience; moments that shift and mutate according to the person, yet will always hold a point in common in the experience of the other.

To gather the steps is to enter a ritual of agony that casts off its moorings, toward a state of emptiness that expands the perception of bodily limits toward nothingness, opening a parenthesis in the sense of time, of being and of being-there. Toward change, toward the moment of transition freed from anguish, to gather the traces cast in time, the imprints of thought, love, desire, fear, the faces of my others. Traces of a subjectivity built from the experience of femininity in a rather Andean context.

This is a ten-hour performance in which, through the length of its execution, I arrive at a state of emptiness that expands the perception of bodily limits and of notions of time. In this way a space is created for the spectator and their own fields of perception, who experiences the body as a liminal space and a place of encounter.
